I want to personally welcome you to Ellsworth Air Force Base in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Go to http://www.ellsworth.af.mil/ for the Ellsworth AFB website. You may not be thrilled to be coming to South Dakota, but I bet we can win you over and make your stay here a great one. I have sold so many homes to families who came back to call the Black Hills their home after they did their time in the Air Force. You will love the millions of pine trees, hiking trails and paths, snowmobiling trails, ski slopes, lakes, fishing, hunting and a whole whole lot more. Ellsworth is located next to Box Elder which is just 5 miles from the 2nd largest city in South Dakota, Rapid City, population around 70,000. Right outside the main gate is the Douglas School System. If you have children you may want to consider living in the Douglas District because the school is excellent. It is so popular and such a good school that families from Rapid City purposely move to the Box Elder area just to take their kids to the school.
